The Health Care Management concentration is a strong interdisciplinary program which prepares students to manage in today's complex health care industry. Students apply coursework in the field by serving as a health care management intern. The combination of theory, research, and practical experience enables students to pursue master's level study in the business administration or health services or a variety of professional career opportunities. These areas include long-term care, acute care, outpatient management, physician practice management, and clinical services.This program provides an excellent opportunity for employment. Over 85% of health care management students are employed in health care or enter a master's program within six months of graduation. Upon graduation, you'll be prepared for entry-level management positions in:
Clinics, Consulting firms, Health insurance organizations, Healthcare associations, Hospitals, Nursing homes, Physician practices, Mental health organizations, Public health departments, Rehabilitation centers, Skilled nursing facilities, Universities and research institutions, and Other health care organizations

Graduate Degree Options


The Health Care Management program provides excellent preparation for graduate study. Program graduates have continued their education at the Medical University of South Carolina, University of South Carolina, Ohio State University, Xavier University, University of North Carolina at Charlotte, and other notable universities.Popular graduate degrees include the Master of Public Health and Master of Health Administration.

Support For Health Care Management

Agape Senior Healthcare Management - Support for Health Care Management
This fund provides discretionary support for use in the College of Business Administration’s Healthcare Management Program. The fund may be used for but not limited to: Developing a Healthcare Management Certificate Program, support for students/faculty attending professional association meetings, support faculty initiatives such as NAB Certification, support development of long term care specialization/management tracks, provide scholarship awards, and any other activities that elevate the status of the program as determined by the Dean. The HCMT program faculty will be actively involved in all decisions involving fund expenditures. Scholarship recipient selection and number of recipients will be determined under the auspices of the Dean, Department Chair, and/or HMCT program faculty in conjunction with scholarship guidelines. The Office of Financial Aid is charged with the administrative responsibilities of the scholarship

Student Organizations

The American College of Healthcare Executives
The American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE) is a professional association established to promote long-term healthcare management. The ACHE provides education and professional networking for students pursuing a career in health administration. The faculty adviser is Dr. Keith Benson, 504 Thurmond.
Upsilon Phi Delta
Students distinguishing themselves academically may qualify for Upsilon Phi Delta, a national academic honor society for Health Care Management majors. The purpose of the Upsilon Phi Delta Honor Society is to further the professional competence and dedication of the individual members in and for the profession of healthcare management. The Upsilon Phi Delta Honor Society is a member benefit of the Association of University Programs in Health Administration (AUPHA). The faculty adviser is Dr. Keith Benson, 504 Thurmond.
Students can also choose from a number of other College of Business Student Organizations and Honor Societies or University Student Organizations.
